Exploration & Development
The Ogaden Basin in Ethiopia has superior geological conditions for oil and gas formation and the potential of exploration is huge. So far, the known recoverable gas reserve is nearly 200 billion cubic meters, well enough to sustain an annual production of 3 million tons of LNG over a period of 20 years for phase one. It is expected that by 2020 when both Calub and Hilala go into production, the production capacity will reach 3 million tons of LNG. Further more, as new discovery is sure to be found, Poly-GCL will have a higher aim of annual production of 10 million tons of LNG over the next 5 to 10 years.
The Ethio-Djiboutian pipeline starts from the ground treatment station in Ethiopia and ends at the LNG plant in Djibouti. The pipeline covers a distance of nearly 750 km and has a capacity of transporting 14 billion cubic meters gas per year. As is planned, the construction of the pipeline project will start in 2018 and will be put into operation by the end of 2020.
LNG Plant Nearshore Liquefaction
The LNG plant will have an annual productioncapacity of 3 million tons for phase one. Its main processing and auxiliary facilities include feed gas pre-treatment unit , liquefaction unit ,LNG storage and transmission system, utilities,seawater desalination system, production and administration buildings, PGU and firefighting facilities, etc. Reserve the land and interfaces forthe construction of phase two & three production lines to finally achieve LNG production scale of 10 million tons/year. As is planned, the phase one construction of the LNG plant project will start in 2018 and will be in operation by the end of 2020.
